In October, we had our first photo shoot for June Ruby. We chose beautiful Boulder, Colorado as our backdrop and spent two full days taking photos of our Winter merchandise. The first day we spent in a “studio” which was nothing more than a one car garage!
Luckily, we have amazing friends who were willing to give up two days of their lives to model and film our clothes.
A friend of Michelle’s from high school, Susan (above right) is a Colorado girl through and through (a former Miss Colorado and a Broncos cheerleader – you don’t get much more Colorado than that!) Now, she’s a successful career woman and also runs her own business. Some of her favorite products are Double X Vitamins and Time Defiance Skin Care. Her most coveted item during the photo shoot was the Ivory Cashmere Beth Bowley Sweater she is modeling here.
Susan recruited her friend Amanda (above left) who was so much fun during the two days of our shoot. Amanda is passionate about healthy living and also runs her own online business. She strongly recommends the Organic Legacy of Clean products and says the Nutrilite Edibles, vitamins, and sports nutrition line is “the best!” She loved the Black Seamless Leggings from Three Dots, which she said were uber-comfortable.
Maegen met Julie in college, and they’ve remained close since she moved to Boulder, CO. An avid yoga practitioner and instructor, Julie was the perfect model with her long lean physique. She’s a proud new mama of a one year old and is currently studying to become a Certified Holistic Health Coach so she can take her passion of whole food nutrition and personal transformation to another level. Julie is passionate about helping other people realize their true potentials in life so they can be joyful, free and fulfilled. For more information please check out her blog. She looked adorable in the faux (of course!) Fur Trapper Hat by Hat Attack.
Maegen’s brother Maxx endured two long days of girl talk and somehow managed to escape with his sanity and some good video for June Ruby. A recent graduate of Los Angeles Film School, his real passion is making movies and telling a good story. When he is not in Hollywood, he can be found in Colorado with his dog River and his fiancee Ashley. Maxx directed a short, film noir thriller called Harbinger and you can find his work at his website.
Julia Vandenoever was our fabulous photographer who managed to shoot beautiful photos in record time (we did everything in two days!). She scoped out various photo sites for us and settled on the Cure Organic Farm in Boulder, which was the perfect spot for our lifestyle photos. Although there was no wedding that day, we could see why people love to get married at the farm with it’s amazing grounds and mountain views. Ironically Julia doesn’t like to have her photo taken, so we didn’t get any of her the day of the shoot, but here’s one we borrowed for this posting:
Our junior assistant was Michelle’s daughter June, covered below under the aden + anais bamboo muslin swaddle blanket (which is the perfect lightweight blanket to keep her shielded from the bright Colorado sun). At 5 weeks, she was quite the trooper during the two long days!
